Increased tension in delta state

Growing tension between the Ijaws and Itsekiris of Delta State over the
$16b gas project has resulted in fighting among the two communities. There were gunshots which lasted several hours from Monday night to the early hours of Tuesday, in Ugborodo, Escravos in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.a source, according to TheNation, said three houses were razed down in Madangho, an Itsekiri community. Several persons also suffered severe gunshot, machete cuts and wounds in the fracas, which was believed to be between Ijaw and Itsekiri gangs. What sparked off the fighting was not immediately clear, but it was learnt that armed Ijaw youths burnt the three houses in Madangho.
