The Federal Executive Council (FEC) Wednesday approved the sum of
N258.27 million for the Ministry of Niger Delta for the training of 500
non-militants in the region in Information Telecommunication Technology
(ICT) training.
Briefing journalists after the FEC meeting, the Minister of State for
Niger Delta, Darius Ishaku, disclosed that the training which would be
for one month, would be centred on how to address the issue of
unemployment and generate income.
Equally, he said another batch of 2, 200 non-militants would also be
trained in the area of agriculture, aquaculture and business at a cost
of N549 million.
He added that the training would be staggered across states in the
Niger Delta.
Also at the same briefing, Minister of Transport, Senator Idris Umar, disclosed that FEC also approved contract for the dredging of escravos/ Warri/ Aladja Channel at the cost of N274.9m scheduled to be completed in 10 months.

Also approved was a contract for a ship building facility and dockyard
at the cost of N42 billion.
The project include civil work and infrastructure works at the dockyards aimed at growing local content.
