In the spirit of state of emergency:JTF slams 24 hours curfew in parts of Maiduguri

As Nigerian troops intensify their search for criminals and members of the Boko Haram in Maiduguri, the Joint Task Force on Saturday imposed a 24 hours curfew in places identified as hot spots of Maiduguri,the Borno State capital.
In a statement issued to journalists the spokesman of the JTF, Sagir Musa, said there would be no movement in the area for indefinite time.‬
The text reads: “The Joint Task Force (JTF), in order to sustain the ongoing special operations in the face of recent Boko Haram attacks in some areas within Maiduguri metropolis is imposing 24 hours curfew with effect from today, Saturday 18th May 2013.
“The 24 hours curfew is hereby imposed in the following wards and areas: Gamboru, Mairi Kuwait, Bakin Kogi, Kasuwan Shanu, Ruwan Zafi, 202-Quarters, Dikwa Lowcost Sinner, 504-Housing Estate, Chad Basin, 303-Estate and Baga Road areas’.
GSM networks have been grounded for the last 24 hours after it was released briefly yesterday. The situation has obviously left many residents in tension as they could not call their loved ones to alert them of curfew situation.
